Some tubs just need a good scrub. Others need real work. This one fell into the second category - years of staining, chipping, and peeling had left the surface in rough shape. The old non-slip strips on the floor were lifting and discolored, and no amount of cleaning was going to fix what was underneath.

Before we could even think about refinishing, we had to get the prep right. That means stripping away the damaged surface, addressing the chipped areas, and making sure everything is smooth and ready to hold a new coat properly. Skip that step and the finish won't last - it's that simple. Good prep is what separates a refinish that holds up for years from one that starts peeling again in six months.

Once the surface was prepped and clean, we applied the refinishing coating and finished the floor with a permanent non-slip treatment. Not the peel-and-stick strips that yellow and curl up over time - a permanent, built-in texture that becomes part of the surface itself. It's a detail that matters a lot, especially in households with kids or older adults.

The finish came out clean and glossy, with a bright white that made the whole tub look brand new. The reflection you see in the completed surface tells you everything you need to know about the quality of the coat. This is what tub refinishing is supposed to look like when it's done right.

Replacing a tub is expensive, disruptive, and honestly unnecessary in most cases. Refinishing gets you to the same end result - a tub that looks and functions like new - at a fraction of the cost and without tearing apart your bathroom to do it.
