Here's what a shower looks like when failing grout and a neglected tub get ignored long enough. Crumbling grout lines, tile pulling away from the wall, black mold creeping in behind the window ledge, and a tub surface that's beyond what any scrubbing could fix. This is the kind of bathroom that most people assume means one thing - a full gut job. It doesn't.

We see this a lot. The grout gives out, water gets behind the tile, and from there it just gets worse over time. The window sill area especially took a beating - moisture had been sitting behind that ledge long enough to cause serious damage to the substrate underneath. That's exactly the kind of thing that goes unnoticed until it's a real problem.

Our approach here was to address it properly without tearing everything out. We reattached loose tile, removed the old failed grout, and regrouted the entire surround. Once the tile was solid and sealed, we applied a durable reglazing coating over the tub and tile - mold-resistant, waterproof, and built to hold up in a wet environment. No demo. No dumpster in the driveway. No weeks of construction.

The difference between before and after on a job like this is hard to overstate. The same original tile that looked completely shot is now clean, bright, and fully sealed. The tub went from heavily stained and worn down to a smooth, glossy finish that looks brand new. That's what a proper tub refinish does - it skips the replacement cost and gets you a result that actually lasts.

If your shower is leaking, failing inspection, or just looks like it's given up, a full demo isn't always the answer. Regrouting, tile reattachment, and reglazing can solve the real problems underneath and give you a bathroom that's clean and watertight again.
