A worn tub has a way of dragging down the whole bathroom. Even if the tile is clean and the fixtures are fine, a dull, scuffed-up tub surface just makes everything feel old. That's the problem we were dealing with here - a tub that had clearly seen better days, with surface wear and staining that regular cleaning wasn't going to fix.
Before we ever touch a coating, prep is everything. We use a rotary tool hooked up to a vacuum hose to grind down the surface and pull up dust at the same time. That step matters more than most people realize. If the surface isn't properly abraded and cleaned, the new finish won't bond the way it needs to - and it won't last.
Once the surface was prepped, we masked off the entire area. Plastic sheeting goes over the tile, the floor, everything nearby. That keeps overspray contained and protects the surrounding surfaces. It also tells you a lot about how seriously a refinisher takes their work. Sloppy masking leads to sloppy results.
Then comes the coating itself. The finish we apply goes on smooth and cures to a hard, glossy surface that looks and feels completely fresh. No rough patches. No discoloration. Just a clean, bright white tub that feels like new. The difference between before and after on a job like this is genuinely satisfying.
Tub refinishing is one of those upgrades that punches well above its weight. You get a surface that looks brand new without the cost or hassle of a full replacement. If your tub is rough, stained, or just tired-looking, refinishing is worth a serious look.
